Bill's Superette Launches LOC Software's Store Management Suite

Solution helping grocery/fuel chain increase store, HQ operational efficiencies

ANDOVER, Minn. -- Bill's Superette, an eight-store grocery/fuel chain operating in the Twin Cities, has launched store management solutions from LOC Software, a provider of retail management technology.

Bill's Superette is using LOC Software's Store Management Suite (SMS), which is a client-based retail solution that manages all aspects within the retail enterprise. The suite contains modules including bank integration, customer loyalty, labor management, mobile POS, pay-at-the-pump and digital signage.

The new system, which was fully rolled out with the support of reseller North Country Business Products in the spring, is helping the retailer improve the management of all store-level and headquarters-level activities like point-of-sale (POS) transactions, POS/keyboard maintenance, labor scheduling, in-store promotions, complete pricebook maintenance and the company's loyalty program.

Prior to installing LOC Software, Bill's Superette used another POS solution that was determined to have significant limitations in areas that the retailer wanted to accentuate, including store-level sales promotions, unlimited mix and match functionality, and most importantly, hand-held price verification to ensure accurate pricing. Bill's management also wanted to create a loyalty program, which the previous vendor couldn't provide, it said.

Grant Rademacher, operations manager at Bill's Superette, said, "The system is doing what we were told it could do ... and we continue to find new and useful functionality in the system. As we have encountered issues with the software, LOC has been able to adapt their software to allow Bill's to do things the way we want. As we are independent and unbranded, this is very important to us as it allows us to do what we think is best for our customers."

He added, "We continue to be particularly happy with the Help Desk, which has been a pleasure to work with, both from store level and our headquarters staff."

Bill's Superette is now planning to add replenishment functionality to the system and add purchase order capabilities for select vendors.

LOC Software, Andover, Minn., delivers solutions designed to fully integrate retail operations from the point of transaction to the accounting ledger. The LOC SMS is a complete set of applications for all independent retailers. Tailored into one seamless interface, SMS satisfies all of a retailer's needs, including powerful merchandising and inventory controls, fully integrated loyalty programs and multi-store management, the company said. With 20 years of experience in POS software with fuel interfaces, LOC applications are designed for most hard goods retailers, with concentrations in the supermarket, convenience, pharmacy and natural products, and are available for foreign language markets.

North Country Business Produce, Bemidji, Minn., is a leading POS provider, delivering business efficiencies and point of sale automation to the grocery, retail, c-store and hospitality industries. NCBP's complete suite of point of sale solutions include front and back-of-house POS, integrated security, network protection and bottom of basket loss prevention.

Bill's Superette is an eight-store small format supermarket/fuel station chain operating in the northwest corner of the Twin Cities. The stores range in size from 5.000 to 8,000 sq. ft., have an average of 12 fuel pumps and four cashier stations and sell about 10,000 items.
