Fuel and convenience stores can now pre-order NCR Voyix Corp.’s automated, artificial intelligence-powered bulk scanning self-checkout solution. The system was piloted at a Phillips 66-branded Mach 1 station since November.

NCR Voyix Halo Checkout uses AI to identify products, ensuring the customer checkout experience is fast and frictionless, the Atlanta-based company said. The checkout system works with Everseen’s Evershow technology, which uses cameras to recognized products placed in any orientation on the checkout machine and instantly scans them to an itemized list, providing an accurate total amount due, the company said. The system can scan up to 20 products simultaneously.

“Customers want a checkout process that prioritizes them as shoppers, and NCR Voyix Halo delivers exactly that,” said Alan Meyer, CEO of Mach 1. “Shorter transaction times mean happier customers and more productive store operations.”

The system can decrease the amount of time a consumer spends at checkout by nearly 50%, NCR Voyix said.

“We’re helping retailers stay ahead of the curve with retail AI,” said Alan O’Herlihy, founder and CEO of Everseen. “By collaborating with NCR Voyix, we’re delivering the future of checkout—an innovative, frictionless experience that meets the expectations of today’s savvy shoppers, all while maintaining the high standards of service that consumers expect.”

The platform also integrates a comprehensive learning model to provide retailers with real-time insights.

Another feature of NCR Voyix Halo Checkout is it continually improves using transaction-based learning to increase prediction accuracy. The AI model learns new items or seasonal packaging from transaction data when these items are scanned by a shopper, NCR Voyix said. It can also help to minimize loss and shrinkage.

The system is available as a tabletop offering or an add-on on top of an existing self-checkout machine

The launch at Phillips 66 is part of NCR Voyix’s broader mission to drive innovations that enhance the customer experience for all customers, it said.

NCR Voyix Corp. is a provider of digital commerce solutions for the retail and restaurant industries. It provides retail stores and restaurant systems with comprehensive, platform-led SaaS and service capabilities, it said. Everseen, whose U.S. headquarters is in Miami, is a leader in vision AI that is transforming retail by reducing shrink, streamlining operations and enhancing customer experiences, the company said.

Houston-based Phillips 66 is an integrated downstream energy provider that manufactures, transports and markets products that drive the global economy, according to the company.

Mach 1 is a family-owned and operated chain of convenience stores that are a part of Meyer Oil Co. Mach 1 has more than 20 locations across central and southern Illinois and Indiana.
