Casey’s, bp, 7-Eleven Are Leveraging AI at Corporate Level

Convenience-store chains use technology to reduce costs and workload, manage contracts and recruit talent

Casey’s, bp and 7-Eleven are leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline corporate operations.

These convenience-store chains aim to cut down on the time it takes leaders to perform tasks and reduce costs at the executive level.

Casey’s is using IntelAgree for contract management, Global oil and energy company bp is partnering with Microsoft 365 Copilot and 7-Eleven has changed the way it recruits with Paradox.

Casey’s

Casey’s is leveraging IntelAgree, an AI-powered contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform, to manage its contracts.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Casey's will leverage the full capabilities of Tampa, Florida-based IntelAgree, including Saige Assist, its generative AI assistant, to streamline and scale contract operations across the organization.

With IntelAgree, Casey’s aims to use AI to stay ahead of risk, streamline workflows and drive smarter decisions, the company said.

Chicago-based bp was one of the first companies to act as a launch partner for Microsoft 365 Copilot in 2024, a cloud-based service that integrates with the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and uses AI and natural language processing to automate a variety of daily tasks, like writing emails and managing inboxes.

“This collaboration with Copilot for Microsoft 365 is a significant next step in bp’s digital transformation,” said Leigh-Ann Russell, bp’s executive vice president of innovation and engineering. “Leveraging the latest developments in AI-powered workplace solutions offers the opportunity for bp to transform how work gets done. Our ambition is to empower our people to spend more time on innovation and the problem-solving that will help make the energy transition a success.”

The program will allow bp to help employees boost productivity, upskill, enhance business performance and support innovation, the company said. bp may also give insights to help shape the future functionality of the product.

Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with an organization’s data to turn words into one of the most powerful productivity tools on the planet, the company said. It works alongside apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams and more, providing real-time intelligence assistance.

“Copilot for Microsoft 365 will help thousands of employees unlock creativity and give them the ability to focus on what really matters: problem-solving, innovation and accelerating the energy transition,” said Clare Barclay, CEO of Microsoft U.K. “We're supporting bp as it puts this transformational technology in the hands of its people.”

Companies, including bp, that use Copilot include Visa, Pfizer, Honda, Chevron, gm, Dell and Mayo Clinic, according to Microsoft.

7-Eleven

7-Eleven uses AI to recruit candidates in partnership with Paradox, an automated conversational recruiting software.

The convenience-store chain identified that recruiters’ overly administrative process was not adding value for candidates, managers or the brand, said Rachel Allen, senior director of talent acquisition at 7-Eleven, in a blog post from Scottsdale, Arizona-based Paradox.

“We needed to find a simple solution our hiring managers could embrace, allowing them to truly own staffing and labor optimization without the noise,” Allen said. “Being understaffed is often a vicious cycle of inefficiencies that compound on each other—store managers need to find and hire help, but it’s precisely at this time when they have the least amount of time to do so.”

Irving, Texas-based 7-Eleven's partnership with Paradox provides an AI assistant named Rita, a 24/7, 365 recruiter for every store leader, she said.

Rita automates candidate screening and scheduling and has cut hiring time in half, Allen said, saving store leaders about 40,000 hours of work per week across all locations.

With the AI assistant handling 95% of the hiring process and the stores hiring more effectively, the chain was able to repurpose recruiting coordinators to other roles.

“The people who had always been burdened by busy work were freed up to be consultants and advisors and do more people-centric work, like finding the right store leaders,” Allen said. “When you find those right store leaders, they can leverage the technology we’ve provided them to find the right store associates. And then, hopefully, we’re able to grow those store associates into those store leader roles … who then can grow and move up within the organization.”
