CHARLOTTE, N.C. — More than 4,000 Circle K convenience stores in 36 states are adopting GetUpside, a platform for delivering cash-back offers to customers.

GetUpside crafts personalized consumer offers. It delivers cash-back offers through a mobile app, creating an incentive for new customers to visit a station and existing customers to visit more often. Merchants share anonymized transaction logs with GetUpside to access the reports.

“GetUpside is increasing fuel stations’ net profitability on each transaction by bringing them profit from purchases they would not have seen without our platform,” said Alex Kinnier, co-founder and CEO of GetUpside, Washington. “We give businesses a better idea of who is walking into their stores to help them personalize their customers’ experiences, just like an online retailer would. We are excited to work with Circle K as it expands its partnership nationally with GetUpside.”

To claim a GetUpside offer, users open the mobile app, select a station in their area, purchase fuel with a credit or debit card and upload a photo of their receipt to the GetUpside app. Consumers see cash back in their user accounts, and merchants see the incremental profit made from every transaction on their personal GetUpside dashboard.

GetUpside is available at more than 12,000 locations in 41 U.S. states, serving metropolitan areas such as New York; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore; Charlotte, N.C.; Jacksonville, Orlando, Miami and Tampa, Fla.; Houston and Austin, Texas; and Chicago. GetUpside has provided more than $25 million in increased profit and cash back to merchants and consumers, the company said.

GetUpside is working with Circle K, the primary c-store brand of Laval, Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., through Couche-Tard's Charlotte, N.C., office. The retailer has a network of approximately 9,900 locations in North America. It is No. 2 in CSP's 2019 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by number of retail outlets.
