Onvo, a convenience-store chain with 41 locations across Pennsylvania and New York, launched an update to its mobile app and loyalty program. Built on the Rovertown platform with rewards powered by Paytronix, the new app manages dynamic coupons, delivers targeted push notifications and promotes app-exclusive offers.
Onvo Rewards enables guests to earn Hoots—Onvo’s loyalty currency—on fuel and in-store purchases, unlock personalized deals and track and redeem rewards. The app also integrates PDI Age Verification, securely enabling targeted offers on age-restricted items within a compliant, in-app experience.
“At Onvo, we’re committed to creating memorable experiences at every stop,” said Harman Aulakh, vice president of marketing at Onvo. “Launching this app is a significant step forward for our brand, amplifying our ability to reward loyal guests, strengthen our community ties and deliver meaningful value to everyone who visits.”
In May, Onvo will leverage the app to run a summer sweepstakes, featuring prizes like a Caribbean cruise, sports tickets and exclusive products. Additionally, through its partnership with Penn State Athletics, Onvo app users gain exclusive offers and experiences tied to the Nittany Lions.
Onvo is No. 163 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.
“Our guests choose Onvo for convenience, quality and value,” said Aulakh. “This next-generation app is designed to reward their loyalty, enrich their visits and deliver more moments of delight. It represents not just where we are today, but where we’re heading tomorrow.”
In March, Onvo hired a new chief financial officer, Stephanie Mihal. Mihal has more than 20 years of experience as a certified public accountant with McGrail Merkel Quinn & Associates, Onvo said. She replaces former Onvo CFO Fred Malloy.
Onvo, first called Liberty Travel Plazas, was founded in 1988 in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, by Sonny Singh and Andy Aulakh. In 2020, the company rebranded from Liberty Travel Plazas to Onvo, with a new name, logo, website, loyalty program and store design. The Scranton, Pennsylvania-based convenience-store chain operates Onvo Express and Onvo Travel Plazas in central Pennsylvania and upstate New York.
