Corner Store, GasBuddy Give Tanks

Monthlong promotion awarding free fuel for app users

SAN ANTONIO and BOSTON -- Convenience retailer Corner Store has partnered with consumer gas-price service GasBuddy to launch "Tanksgiving." Through the holiday-focused promotion, the companies will give away thousands of gallons of free gasoline to consumers in several cities across the country.

Brand representatives from both Corner Store and GasBuddy will surprise drivers who have the free GasBuddy app downloaded and a GasBuddy profile created with as much as $20 worth of fuel per vehicle at select Corner Store locations.

The first "Tanksgiving" event was in Phoenix, Ariz. on Nov. 2, with an upcoming event slated for Denver.

“Corner Store and GasBuddy share a commitment to helping people on the road, whether it is fueling up the car or getting a good cup of coffee,” said Walt Doyle, CEO of GasBuddy.

“With GasBuddy, we will be able to help our loyal Corner Store customers fill up on fuel during the holiday season, and we also look forward to delighting them in our stores with our fresh and friendly offerings,” said Peter Brodnitz, vice president of marketing for Corner Store.

Founded in 2000, GasBuddy was a pioneer in crowdsourced information, leveraging technology, data and a consumer community that now connects more than 60 million users with real-time, accurate fuel pricing information as well as reliable reviews of gas-station amenities and services. The app and website offer real-time fuel prices at more than 140,000 stations in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Boston-based GasBuddy recently rebranded and launched a redesigned app with new station rating features and enhanced search filters to offer drivers even more than just finding low fuel prices while on the road.
