Diebold Nixdorf, a self-checkout manufacturer, has established a new retail technology line at its North America manufacturing facility in North Canton, Ohio. The company also recently partnered with LOC Software, a retail management software provider.

The self-service checkout systems are being manufactured in the U.S. for grocery, general merchandise, quick service restaurant (QSR) and fuel and convenience retailers, the company said.

We are delighted to manufacture for our U.S. customers within the country, said Ilhami Cantadurucu, executive vice president of global retail at Diebold Nixdorf. Not only does this give us greater flexibility, the new production line has also come at exactly the right time, both with respect to our growth objectives in the region and the current macroeconomic environment. In combination with our strong services capabilities, the localization of our solutions delivery gives our North America-based customers additional confidence that they can rely on us to meet their needs.

Diebold Nixdorf’s partnership with LOC Software will enable Diebold Nixdorf to run LOC’s ThriVersA software. North Canton, Ohio-based Diebold Nixdorf designs its self-checkout and kiosk systems to be compatible with third-party software and systems.

Laval, Quebec-based LOC’s retail management software is designed to be used as a single database for transactions on Diebold Nixdorf’s self-service solutions, point-of-sale (POS) terminals or mobile devices.

The open retailing approach is a key element of Diebold Nixdorf’s self-service solution design, ensuring a smooth interaction of both solutions, said Ed McCabe, head of Retail Sales North America at Diebold Nixdorf. This strategic alliance brings significant value to retailers as they can easily combine software from LOC with our industry-leading self-service technology solutions.
