LAWRENCE, Mass. — Energy North Group, a wholesale fuel distributor and convenience-store operator in New England and New York, has signed an agreement with Compliance Safe, a division of Temple, Texas-based retail management company StrasGlobal, to use its software service that manages the permit, license and certification renewals process for fuel retailers.
“We know that permit, license and certification renewals can be tedious and time-consuming—an operations task that can easily fall through the cracks,” said Gerry Gabel, Compliance Safe's director of business development. “The Compliance Safe software solution tracks the permits, licenses and certifications renewal process. Monitored through a secure dashboard, Compliance Safe saves hours of time to track and initiate renewals. Think of it as insurance against a critical permit or certificate expiring and causing a disruption in store operation.”
StrasGlobal designed Compliance Safe's software in 2015 as a proprietary compliance management tool and introduced it to the c-store industry in 2019.
“We think Compliance Safe is perfect for managing document compliance at our 47 retail locations that include Haffner c-stores, various branded gas stations, car washes, as well as Subway and Aroma Joe’s Coffee that we either franchise or manage on our sites. The Compliance Safe dashboard with automated alerts is much more functional than Excel and user-friendly for our store managers,” said Joe Green, director of operations for Energy North Group.
Founded in 1981, Lawrence, Mass.-based Energy North Group is No. 148 on the Top 40 update to CSP’s 2019 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by number of retail outlets. CSP will release the complete 2020 list in June.
