J. Polep, Verge Partner to Bring Tech Platform to C-Stores

Launching early this year in New England, Pennsylvania, New York

HENDERSON, N.C. -- Verge Retail and J. Polephave partnered to bring Verge technology to convenience store retailers across the New England, Pennsylvania and New York. C-store distributor J. Polep has deployed Verge Promote to thousands of customers, with plans to launch the Verge C-tech and SalesTech platform, which offers a customer app and a sales rep app for creating and managing orders, in early 2015.

Verge Promote is a smartphone application that enables distributors to push the latest deal or limited-time promotion to convenience store retailers. The distributor-branded app for Android and iPhone devices can be deployed within 30 days and requires no IT integration.

"We always look for smart, innovative ways to help our customers increase sales and improve their bottom lines and Verge technologies support this mission," said Eric Polep, director of sales at J. Polep. "With Promote, our customers immediately began realizing benefits, which is what we'd heard when speaking with other distributors using Verge solutions."

With Promote, distributors can push notifications to alert customers in real time of limited-time offers or vendor-sponsored values. Retailers can choose what type of promotions they receive and place orders for their stores directly from the app. In addition, retailers can provide instant feedback to their distributor, who can then respond in real time, as well as monitor ongoing order activity, with the platform's intuitive analytics capabilities.

"We're excited about this partnership with J. Polep, which has already improved communication to their customers, and will soon standardize customer ordering and extend sales rep capabilities," said Carson Kuehne, Verge Retail chief innovations officer.

The original Polep Tobacco Co. was founded by Charles Polep in 1898 in Salem, Mass. The company, now based in Chicopee, Mass., is ranked as one of the top convenience store distributors in the United States and services 4,000 retailers in New England, Pennsylvania and New York.

Verge Retail is the technology spinoff of Henderson, N.C.-based M.R. Williams Inc., a company with a rich 35-year history in retail and one of the fastest growing c-store suppliers on the east coast. Verge software products are unique to the industry because they are designed by c-store insiders with decades of retail experience. Currently the company's technology is deployed across more than 2,200 retail outlets and used by tens of thousands of c-store retailers, distributors and consumers nationwide.
