Loop Neighborhood Market, a unit of Vintners Distributors, has installed an electric-vehicle (EV) charging station at a Freemont, California, location, with more to come.

Just as President Joe Biden announced lower emissions standards for vehicles, the convenience-store chain said it had installed at its Freemont location a FreeWire Technologies’ ultrafast Boost Charger, which can charge two vehicles at the same time. The charger’s battery has a capacity of160kWh of total energy storage and a Battery Management System (BMS), to allow the rapid charger to output 150kW to an EV while drawing 27kW from the grid. This design cuts energy costs up to 70%, the company said.
Boost Chargers are compatible with all Level 3 electric vehicles and Teslas using an adapter. They include payment terminals and also allow for payment with the EV Connect app.
The Freemont installation was the first of many FreeWire charger installations planned, with six charging stalls capable of charging 12 EVs to be installed in the next few weeks in La Quinta, Norco, Mountain View and Sacramento, California.
