Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores is continuing to upgrade the technology at its quick-service restaurants (QSRs). The travel center chain launched its order-ahead service at 92 Love’s owned-and-operated Hardee’s locations. This follows the launch of the same service at Love’s Arby’s and Carl’s Jr. locations earlier this year.

Customers can search for a participating Hardee’s in the Love’s Connect app. If the service is available, they will see an “order now” icon. Customers can then pick their preferred pickup time, up to an hour ahead, and pay online. When their order is ready, they can collect it from a restaurant team member, Love’s said.

  • Love’s Travel Stops is No. 15 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

To celebrate the launch, Love’s is offering a promotion through Oct. 26 through which customers ordering ahead on the Love’s Connect app can get a free single Famous Star or Sausage, Egg and Cheese Biscuit with a $5 minimum purchase.

Love’s is looking to expand the order-ahead concept at its other QSRs, including Bojangles and Taco John’s.

Love’s isn’t the only travel center to launch order ahead services recently. Pilot also has added a mobile ordering feature to its Pilot app.

The order-ahead service is powered by Bite, a New York City-based digital ordering software company.

Tricks and Treats

Love’s also is launching a Tricks and Treats promotion this October as Halloween approaches.

Love's treats

The Love’s Connect app will feature free limited-edition treats each week, the company said. The weekly treat lineup includes:

  • Oct. 1: Ghost Candy Flavor (Sour Patch Blue Raspberry)
  • Oct. 8: Reese’s Pumpkins (King Size)
  • Oct. 15: Any 28-ounce BodyArmor
  • Oct. 22: Snickers Pumpkin (Share Size)
  • Oct. 29: Butterfinger Marshmallow (Share Size)

Love’s has 661 travel stops and convenience stores in 42 states. At the start of the year, it said it planned to add 20 new travel stops in 2025

RaceTrac enters uncharted territory with its Potbelly acquisition

The Bottom Line: There has never been a purchase of a restaurant chain the size of the sandwich brand Potbelly by a convenience-store chain. History suggests it could be a difficult road.
