OPW Names Lyons Vice President of Business Development

OPW FMS introduces PetroLink Fuel Control System
CINCINNATI -- OPW, a Dover Co., and a leader in commercial and retail fueling equipment, has announced that it has named Dave Lyons to the newly formed position of vice president of business development. Lyons joined OPW in 2005 as chief financial officer for the company's OPW Fuel Management Systems business unit.

This new position has been created as part of the company's new strategic growth initiative, introduced in 2009 by OPW president David Crouse. In 2009, Crouse realigned the company into three primary business units: OPW Fueling Components (OPW-FC), Fueling Containment [image-nocss] Systems (OPW-FCS) and Fuel Management Systems (OPW-FMS) and three global business units: OPW Asia Pacific, OPW EMEA and OPW South America.

In his new role, Lyons will be responsible for the deployment of key strategic initiatives across all OPW business units and world regions. Lyons will report directly to Crouse.

"The scope and quality of Dave's strategy development experience, leadership style and strong financial background makes him the perfect choice for this position. He is a key addition to our management team," Crouse sauid. "I look forward to the contributions he will make to our strategic planning and deployment. He will be highly instrumental in driving OPW's global growth initiatives and in helping us achieve our business objectives."

OPW Fueling Components, Cincinnati, is a manufacturer of dispensing products, environmental systems, secondarily contained fuel delivery systems, fuel management systems and clean energy fueling products, including dispensing nozzles for vapor recovery, gasoline, diesel, LPG, Hydrogen and CNG; swivels, breakaways, valves and fittings; underground and aboveground storage tank equipment, spill containers, overfill prevention devices, secondary containment sumps and flexible piping; tank gauging equipment and automated fuel management systems. OPW is part of the Fluid Management Segment of Dover Corp.

In other company news, Hodgkins, Ill.-based OPW Fuel Management Systems, a business unit of OPW Fueling Components and one of the world's leaders in the design and manufacture of tank gauges and automated fuel-control systems, has announced the availability of its latest fuel-control system, the PetroLink Fuel Control System. PetroLink is a completely wireless system that monitors fleet vehicle ID, mileage and other important fueling information through the use of RFID technology.

PetroLink has been designed to provide the highest level of fuel security, accountability and control while accurately capturing data without driver intervention, all without the need for wires, special swivels, fuel-authorization cards or time-consuming installation. The PetroLink system will not allow fuel to be dispensed unless the proper RFID tag is identified, providing superior security for fleet managers.

In addition, ease of fuel reconciliation is a key benefit from the PetroLink system, which consists of four easy to use and install components, two of which are placed on the vehicle and two that are installed at the fueling station:

Wireless Tank Transceiver Loop Antenna (TAG) mounts around the vehicle's fuel filler pipe. Adaptable to any vehicle, the transceiver cannot be removed without deactivation. Vehicle Meter (VM) installs on the vehicle and reads the vehicle's odometer and/or hour gauge and transmits the mileage or engine hours to the Wireless Communication Unit. Wireless Communication Unit (WCU) records the data from the nozzle antenna and vehicle meter's RFID tag and transmits it to the fueling location's Fuel Site Controller (FSC3000). The WCU is compatible with OPW FMS' Phoenix fuel-management software. Nozzle Antenna (Reader), a wireless transceiver that is mounted on the fueling nozzle. This antenna reads the vehicle's RFID tag and transmits the information to the WCU. The information is relayed by the nozzle antenna prevents cross-contamination of fuel and ensures that the proper fuel type is dispensed into the vehicle.

When a vehicle outfitted with a PetroLink tag is being fueled, the fuel nozzle antenna reads the tag and transmits the vehicle data to the WCU, which records the driver's data, as well as the hardware number of the meter installed in the vehicle. The WCU then queries the meter to get an accurate odometer reading before fueling is allowed to begin. This completely wireless process takes only seconds to execute. Since all of the information is gathered electronically through RFID technology, there are no wires that can break, which can necessitate the complete replacement of the equipment.

OPW Fuel Management Systems specializes in the design and manufacture of tank gauges and automated fuel control systems.
