TULSA, Okla. The on-site 2020 PEI Convention at the NACS Show in Las Vegas, which was scheduled Oct. 11-14, will be held virtually due to COVID-19 cases in Nevada and a state mandate, the Petroleum Equipment Institute said. The decision to cancel the in-person event follows the announcement last week that the 2020 NACS Show has been cancelled because of the pandemic and instead will be a virtual experience.

Registered attendees and exhibitors for the PEI Convention will receive full refunds, the group said. PEI will provide updates about refund procedures soon through emails and announcements, the association said.

“We’re choosing to look at the good news,” said Rick Long, executive vice president and general counsel at PEI. “The government’s canceling of the on-site convention in Las Vegas means more people can access PEI’s convention information and education than ever before. Many companies have adopted no-travel policies, and several states require visitors from other states to quarantine. We will embrace this opportunity to provide an engaging virtual experience to all PEI supporters as they work safely from their offices and homes around the world.”

Founded in 1951, Tulsa, Okla.-based PEI is composed of more than 1,600 companies engaged in manufacturing and distributing equipment used in the fuel and fluid handling industry. Members are located in 50 states and 81 countries.
