Pinnacle Offers Bluefin Encryption Solution

Partnership provides users with added POS security

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Pinnacle Corp., a supplier of technology automation solutions for convenience stores and fuel inventory management, is partnering with Bluefin Payment Systems to provide Bluefin’s point-to-point encryption (P2PE) solution through Pinnacle’s Palm POS platform.

Bluefin’s P2PE solution has been vetted and approved by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council. Using a PCI-validated P2PE program can potentially save retailers time and money during annual audits, in addition to providing POS (point-of-sale) security.

The P2PE solution secures credit- and debit-card transactions by encrypting the data within a PCI-approved point-of-entry swipe or keypad device to prevent clear-text cardholder data from being exposed to malware while in the merchant’s system or on its way to the processing host.

Retailers using Pinnacle’s Palm POS 12.5.x can use Atlanta, Ga.-based Bluefin’s P2PE solution with no changes to their processing or transaction environment required.

"Our clients understand the importance of encryption in securing their customer's credit- and debit-card transactions,” said Denise Lewis, POS and payments product manager for Pinnacle. “While EMV protects the card itself from duplication, it does not encrypt the data flowing from the card. Bluefin's solution devalues card data, while possibly providing significant PCI scope reduction and cost benefits."

The Pinnacle Corp., located in Arlington, Texas, provides POS, loyalty and corporate and consumer-facing mobile technology to the c-store industry. Bluefin Payments Systems is a provider of secure payment technologies for retailers, enterprises and small to medium-sized businesses worldwide.
