RaceTrac Adds Gift Cards Through Blackhawk Network

Incorporates open-loop gift cards, reloadable debit cards, expanding existing offering

ATLANTA -- RaceTrac Petroleum Inc. has inked an agreement to offer gift cards from Blackhawk Network Inc., a leading prepaid payment network, in more than 365 RaceTrac convenience stores across the southern United States beginning in fall 2013.

Blackhawk Network's prepaid products reach more than 160 million consumers each week, offering a variety of prepaid cards from some of the most popular brands, including entertainment, fashion, dining and digital content prepaid cards. A selection of gift cards, including Applebee's, Belk, Visa, GameStop, Lowe's, Staples, as well as major telecom providers such as Verizon, Tracfone, T-Mobile and Net10, will be available in RaceTrac locations.

"Many consumers who either spend considerable time on the road or live in urban areas have easier access to convenience stores than to full-feature grocery stores," said Bryan Haynes, Blackhawk Network Group vice president of business development. "This partnership gives RaceTrac customers the ability to shop conveniently for prepaid products while they're traveling or are simply out and about."

This commercial agreement incorporates open-loop gift cards as well as general-purpose reloadable debit cards, expanding the offering many RaceTrac locations already had in place.

"At RaceTrac, our mission is to make people's lives simpler and more enjoyable," said Robby Posener, vice president of merchandising, design and construction at RaceTrac. "Offering our guests a wider variety of prepaid cards is one way we deliver on that mission as we strive to continue being their convenience store of choice."
