Rutter's Truckin' for Make-A-Wish

Tesoro helps keep Meals on Wheels rollin'

YORK, Pa. -- Rutter's Farm Stores has contributed three trucks to the Fifth Annual Truck Convoy held May 7 in York and Adams counties to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania & Southern West Virginia.

Rutter's has participated in each of the annual convoys, which for the past two years have been hosted by L&H Trucking in Penn Township. The event raises money for Make-A-Wish and grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Nearly 30 Rutter's employees volunteered their time for [image-nocss] this year's event.

Family-owned and third generation-managed, the Rutter's companies comprise Rutter's Farm Stores, Rutter's Dairy and M&G Realty, a real-estate holding company.

Meanwhile, San Antonio-based Tesoro Corp. said it will team with the Meals On Wheels Association of America Foundation (MOWAAF) and will donate two cents of every gallon of gasoline sold at its nearly 475 Tesoro and Mirastar locations during June 23-25. MOWAAF's mission is to raise public awareness about the issue of senior hunger in America and to provide funding to local Meals On Wheels programs so they can serve homebound seniors within their communities.

Tesoro is not only committing to its own donation, but also allowing other Americans to contribute by doing a simple thingpurchasing gas at their local Tesoro or Mirastar locations. We are urging drivers to pull up to the pumps June 23-25. The more gas they purchase, the more seniors we can feed, said Enid Borden, CEO of MOWAAF.

Tesoro has pledged a minimum contribution of $100,000 to MOWAAF through the three-day campaign. In addition to providing MOWAAF with all funds raised during the campaign period, with a minimum guaranteed amount of $100,000, Tesoro is also funding a public awareness campaign for MOWAAF to bring attention to the issue of senior hunger.

The majority of the $100,000 will be presented as a charitable donation to MOWAAF. The remaining funds will be distributed in the form of Tesoro fuelCards that will be presented to representatives of local Meals On Wheels programs at Tesoro retail locations on June 23. These fuel cards can be used by the programs and their volunteers to purchase gasoline needed to make deliveries.
