RICHMOND, Va. -- As part of BP's new Fueling Communities program, fuel wholesale, service station, towing and body shop services company Seibert's has chosen the Mayor's Youth Academy in the City of Richmond, Va., to give a $6,250 grant. Through the program, local companies such as Seibert's are able to donate thousands of dollars to community-based organizations that support health, education, youth, food and housing.
The Mayor's Youth Academy fits the requirements as an education- and youth-based program that trains local children for post-secondary education or vocation, [image-nocss] provides mentorship and instruction in a variety of career paths and provides healthy, extracurricular activities for children that emphasizes the importance of education. The grant from Seibert's and BP will be used to offset operational costs for the Academy and help the City of Richmond serve more children through the program.
"I am very pleased to hear that BP and Seibert's have chosen our Mayor's Youth Academy to receive this grant," said Dr. Carolyn N. Graham, deputy chief administrative officer for human services. "This is very exciting for all of us in the City, especially those within the Academy as a mentor, instructor, program organizer or participant."
"The Mayor's Youth Academy means a great deal to the City of Richmond and to our company," said Randy Seibert, president of Seibert's. "We are trying to make a real difference in our local community as the Academy has done and, thankfully, BP's Fueling Communities program allows us to do so."
Through the Fueling Communities program, BP directly grants funding to its branded marketers across the nation, such as Seibert's, for use in supporting the efforts of a local organization in health, education, youth and housing. Other organizations receiving similar funding from BP at their community levels include United Way, American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Children's Miracle Network.
Seibert's Family of Companies is the parent company of four Richmond-based companies in the automotive industry: Seibert's Towing, Seibert's Convenience Stores & Better Day Cafes, Seibert's Body Shop and Seibert's Wholesale Fuel Division. The company was founded in 1976 by John Seibert when he opened his first station in the Manchester district of Richmond.
