March Networks launches Managed Video Network Services with high-profile client

ALTOONA, Pa. -- Through a contract with Sheetz Inc., March Networks is making its newly launched Managed Video Network Services available to North American clients.

March Networks, a provider of Internet Protocol (IP)-based digital video surveillance solutions, has launched Managed Video Network Services as a complementary offering to its portfolio of digital video recorders (DVRs) and software. The value-added service is designed to provide March Networks customers with an additional level of video network reliability, as many of these deployed networks [image-nocss] have grown to exceed thousands of systems spanning multiple geographic regions.

Managed Video Network Services provides organizations with a range of outsourced health monitoring, diagnostics and troubleshooting options to maintain the highest performance and availability from their entire IP video network, the company said. Comprehensive monitoring and management of mission-critical video networks can proactively identify and address technical issues, thereby preventing system downtime and the potential loss of video information, it added.

Sheetz first deployed March Networks DVR systems in 2003 as part of a comprehensive store security and operations management program. Video from the DVRs has been used over the years to assist law enforcement with fraud investigations, and is linked to a centralized monitoring center to enable Sheetz security operations staff to respond quickly in emergency situations. The Altoona, Pa.-based chain of more than 300 stores decided to outsource the management of its DVR systems in 2005.

Ottawa, Ontario-based March Networks' suite of purpose-built DVRs and network management and application software enables end-users to capture and manage video and transaction data over both conventional and wireless networks. Its highly scalable DVRs and software serve the needs of leading banks, retail organizations and transportation authorities.
