The Source University Training Center: Where Big Ideas Can Come to Life in Small Groups

The cancellation of the on-site 2020 PEI Convention at the NACS Show in Las Vegas is an undeniable sign of the times. While the absence of an in-person industrywide gathering may be a disappointment, the Petroleum Equipment Institute’s response to organize a virtual event in lieu of the traditional convention echoes a theme common to the fuel industry: we will do things safely above all and prepare to adapt to changing conditions.

Take Advantage of the Source University Training Center’s Meeting Capabilities

The Source University training facility was specifically designed to help the fuel industry improve training in a safe environment. To inquire about hosting a small group meeting or training session at the Source University training center in Arlington, Texas, contact the Source University Team.

“We will embrace this opportunity to provide an engaging virtual experience to all PEI supporters as they work safely from their offices and homes around the world,” said Rick Long, executive vice president and general counsel at PEI in a statement on PEI’s website.

Other industry groups and equipment manufacturers are also pursuing virtual events in order to connect with their membership and customers. For example, the Heating & Energizing America Trade Show will be held virtually in September, the 2020 API Storage Tank Conference & Expo will be held virtually in October and at least one equipment manufacturer has already hosted its own virtual trade show.

Visitors to Source North America’s booth at the 2020 PEI Convention would have been invited to experience a little of what Source’s training facility in Arlington, Texas, has to offer the fueling industry. While the Source North America PEI booth won’t be set up to welcome visitors this year, the door to the Source University training facility remains open for gatherings of limited sizes.

Opportunities to connect with people face-to-face may have diminished, but the importance of communicating with one another, learning from one another and advancing fueling operations together has not. With that in mind, Source University’s sizeable training facility will be poised to accommodate small groups in the coming months. The facility can host training, strategy sessions or help facilitate other industry-focused face-to-face communication. Remote tours of the exhibit can also be conducted.

The Source University training center opened in 2019 to provide members of the fuel industry with year-round access to underground fueling equipment in a safe, controlled environment. The facility includes an open-concept 2,800-square-foot exhibit of fueling equipment that features underground storage tanks, piping, dispensers and more. Featuring both a standard UST configuration and a California UST configuration, the exhibit addresses varying compliance requirements at the state level to help operators familiarize themselves with their site’s unique equipment requirements. The exhibit is currently being expanded to showcase additional fueling equipment.

An adjacent classroom is spacious, Wi-Fi-enabled and includes a large monitor to display PowerPoints, videos or other supporting documents. The seating arrangements are flexible and can be adjusted for different meeting requirements. Take a 360° tour of the classroom on the Source University webpage.

As travel restrictions begin to lift and people become more comfortable with the idea of traveling, the Source University training center provides a unique venue for re-engaging in training and operations improvement.
