Tetco Raises More Than $200,000 for JDRF

Stores in Utah, Texas sold "sneakers" for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- TETCO's CEO, Jon Turner, has announced that TETCO Stores in Utah, as well as San Antonio and Austin, Texas, raised $202,390 in sneaker sales from the 2009 Walk for the Cure to benefit Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Funds will be used by the South Central Texas Chapter of JDRF.

"This is a significant contribution from our customers and our company which will be spent on research to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes and its complications," said Turner.

More than 24 have general diabetes and three million are diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, [image-nocss] according to South Cental Texas Chapter of JDRF.

TETCO is one of San Antonio's five largest privately held companies. It owns and services more than 800 convenience store/gas stores in seven states. The late Tom E. Turner founded Sigmor Oil Co. in 1946. Turner developed the "self-service" concept in 1971 and then sold the company in 1983 to Diamond Shamrock to pursue other interests. In 1983 he founded TETCO, which today owns or services more than 800 stores in seven states.
