Awards school grants through ExxonMobil

WHEELING, W.Va. -- Tri-State Petroleum Corp., Wheeling, W.Va., received 41 grants of $500 each, totaling $20,500, which will be awarded to 41 schools in Northern West Virginia, Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania areas, said the Wheeling News Register.

The grants were through Exxon Mobil Corp.'s Educational Alliance Program, which accepts qualified ExxonMobil dealer applications through ExxonMobil retail stores.

The grants are awarded to public and nonprofit private schools, grades Kindergarten through 12, based on the type [image-nocss] of program it will support in each school. The types of programs include films, speakers, field trips, student volunteer programs, scholarships or awards to encourage academic or leadership excellence, sports, bands, parent/student events or educational tools such as computers, books, calculators and software.

Nationwide, ExxonMobil awarded 4,000 grants for the year, totaling $2 million.

This is the sixth year that Tri-State Petroleum has qualified, participated and received grants through the retail dealer network totaling $56,500 to support local schools. The grants will be distributed by Tri-State Petroleum and the participating convenience stores and stations that submitted the successful school's application at the start of the 2005-06 school year.

The schools and stations included:

St. Vincent De Paul School in Wheeling received a grant from Elm Grove Exxon #102. St Francis Xavier School in Moundsville received a grant from the Moundsville Exxon #816. Warwood Grade School in Wheeling received a grant from the Warwood Exxon #811. St. Michael's School in Wheeling received a grant from Washington Avenue Exxon #815. Linsly School Inc. in Wheeling received a grant from Woodsdale Exxon #204. Bridgeport High School received a grant from Ferrell's Exxon. Bellaire High School received a grant from the Bellaire Exxon. Madison Elementary School in Wheeling received a grant from the Wheeling Island Exxon. Bridge Street Middle School in Wheeling received a grant from Elm Grove Mobil #808. St. John the Evangelist school in Wellsburg received a grant from Wellsburg Mobil #812. Ritchie Elementary School in Wheeling received a grant from Windmill Mobil. Bethlehem Elementary in Wheeling received a grant from Bethlehem Mobil #814. Sherrard Junior High School in Wheeling received a grant from Kelch's Mobil. Union Local High School in Flushing received a grant from Johnen's Exxon. Bishop Donahue High School in McMechen received a grant from Padlow's Exxon. St. Clairsville High School received a grant from the Red Stripe Ohio Valley Plaza Exxon. Wheeling Middle School received a grant from Tiger Fuels LLC-Exxon. St. Paul's Catholic School in Weirton received a grant from Weirton and Main Exxon #809. Broadview Elementary School in Weirton received a grant from Weirton and Penn Exxon #810. Arthur I. Boreman Elementary School in Middlebourne received a grant from Tyler's Exxon. Evans Elementary School in Ripley received a grant from Ripley Exxon Tiger Mart #104.

Tri-State Petroleum is a privately held regional petroleum marketer and c-store operator in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. It serves 87 retail stores as well as commercial and industrial accounts in the three state area.
