CINCINNATI, Ohio — Ice cream and convenience-store chain United Dairy Farmers (UDF) has selected Clear Demand for its pricing platform.

The Clear Demand pricing platform supports intelligent price management and optimization for all merchandise categories including beer and wine, tobacco, snacks, candy and packaged beverages. The Clear Demand platform is used to manage regular and promotion pricing and includes demand forecasting, optimization and a pricing rules engine. It handles tobacco pricing including buydown, state minimums, pack-to-carton relationships, brand relationships, and penny profit.

With nearly 200 convenience store and fueling locations across the Midwest, Cincinnati-based UDF is a family-owned dairy that makes its own ice cream. As UDF expanded, management wanted a solution that streamlines the management and optimization of price and promotion. The retailer will use scenario planning and forecasting to perform “what if” analysis on pricing strategies. “We needed a solution that handles all merchandise including the complexities of tobacco pricing,” said David Lindner, vice president of retail marketing.

“Convenience store retailers use the platform to understand price perception, improve price image, drive visit frequency, and build baskets,” said James Sills, president and CEO of Clear Demand.

Clear Demand is a price management firm based in Cincinnati. Built on big data and delivered assoftware-as-a-service (SaaS), Clear Demand’s platform can be administered from a public or private cloud.
