United Family Counts on New Currency Management Software

Implementing solution across its five banners, including United Express

LUBBOCK, Texas -- The United Family of stores announced recently that it would implement Balance Innovations’ VeriBalance currency management platform and vbInSight corporate reporting software across its five banners: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, Albertsons Market grocery stores and United Express convenience stores.

“The VeriBalance platform will give us better corporate visibility into our cash and store operations,” said Mandy Tomlin, controller for United. “At our stores, the consistent, automated procedures will maximize the efficiency of currency operations, creating more time for serving our customers.”

VeriBalance will reduce store-level bookkeeping time by more than four hours per day in each store and ensure consistent practices across the United enterprise. It also enables United to more fully automate their front-end operations, creating more throughput at registers and freeing up time for associates to focus on the customer experience.

VbInSight provides United corporate users with greater visibility of store activity and performance with real-time alerts and customizable reports. This comprehensive view means users can move to lane accountability, reducing labor while efficiently governing cashier and bookkeeper activity to ensure compliance. These tools also will enable them to identify and address issues faster without time-consuming manual research or costly travel to investigate, Balance Innovations said.

“United is taking control of its currency management to improve operations and serve its customers even better,” said Darren Knipp, president and CEO of Balance Innovations.

Lenexa, Kansas-based Balance Innovations offers a retail software platform that connects devices and systems to provide analytics and actionable data about the entire organization, helping lower the cost of accepting cash and increase efficiency across the enterprise.

United Supermarkets LLC is a Lubbock, Texas-based grocery chain with 37 stores in West Texas, Dallas-Fort Worth and New Mexico. The United Family operates 73 stores under five banners: United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, Albertsons Market and United Express, along with ancillary operations R.C.
