Valero 'Fill Up to Fight Hunger' Raised $3 Million

Campaign benefited local food banks across America

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Valero Energy Corp. has donated $3 million to Feeding America, as part of its "Fill Up to Fight Hunger" campaign. Motorists across America fought hunger in their communities simply by filling up with fuel at participating Valero-branded outlets for the past three months.

For each eight-gallon fuel purchase made at a participating Valero outlet, Valero donated $1 to the local food bank in that area, up to $3 million nationally. The campaign ended successfully on June 30, with the total amount of donations to local food banks depending on the amount of [image-nocss] fuel purchased in that area.

By partnering with Feeding America, the nation's largest hunger-relief organization, Valero is able to distribute funds to local food banks where Valero does business.

A check presentation to Feeding America was held Thursday as Valero employees continued to fight hunger by stuffing a San Antonio Food Bank truck with 13,907 pounds of food items, bringing Valero's total since 2008 to 134,873 pounds.

San Antonio, Texas-based Valero is an international manufacturer and marketer of transportation fuels, other petrochemical products and power. Valero assets include 15 petroleum refineries with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 2.9 million barrels per day, 10 ethanol plants with a combined production capacity of 1.2 billion gallons per year, and a 50-megawatt wind farm.
