ATLANTA -- Verifone recently certified ControlScan as a managed network service provider (MNSP). Under the new MNSP partner program, convenience-store retailers using Verifone Commander and RubyCi point-of-sale (POS) systems are approved to use ControlScan for managed security and other network-related services.

The use of multiple network service providers can increase convenience retailers’ breach risk and further complicate compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The Verifone-certified MNSP partner program provides visibility and control for all parties by ensuring that the service provider connecting to Verifone is properly vetted as secure and PCI compliant.

“ControlScan and Verifone have a longstanding relationship that includes a joint commitment to securing the payment card environment,” said Mark Carl, CEO of ControlScan. “When Verifone told us about their plans for the MNSP program, we were one of the first in line for the vetting process.”

As a Verifone certified MNSP partner, ControlScan leverages its managed PaySafe UTM Firewall service and virtual private network technology to establish a secure, PCI-compliant remote connection to the retailer’s in-store network. This simplifies connectivity for Verifone remote support as well as loyalty programs, EMV at the pump, mobile payments and more for the retailer. This also prepares the store for future technologies as they emerge.

ControlScan delivers a variety of managed services that protect and supplement the security, integrity and speed of the retailer’s IT network. These services include ControlScan PaySafe UTM Firewall, a security defense platform already deployed in thousands of U.S. retail locations; 24/7 threat detection and response provided by an in-house team of security analysts; and vulnerability management services that include internal and external scanning of the network environment. ControlScan also offers managed wireless access points, managed switches, professional installation and circuit provisioning.

With headquarters in Atlanta, ControlScan is globally connected through a worldwide base of customers, partners and strategic alliances. Its team has more than 25 industry certifications, and ControlScan is a certified Level 1 compliant PCI-DSS service provider.

San Jose, Calif.-based Verifone works with more than 30 million payment and commerce devices in more than 150 countries. The company works with a variety of organizations, from retail brands to financial institutions and payment providers.
