Village Pantry Selects TelaFuel

Regional grocer, c-store retailer to implement petroleum supply chain software

INDIANAPOLIS -- Marsh Supermarkets Inc./Village Pantry LLC has selected TelaPoint Inc.'s TelaFuel Internet software suite of products including Smart Replenishment, Smart Buying and Smart Invoicing, to streamline and manage its fuel operations.

Indianapolis-based Marsh will use TelaFuel, a browser-based application suite, to improve management of fuel purchasing, replenishment and invoice reconciliation operations across all of its grocery and convenience store locations. The retailer said it expects to achieve significant benefits including the ability [image-nocss] to lower fuel procurement costs, optimize fuel inventory and transportation operations, and streamline supplier invoice reconciliation expenses.

"Our decision to implement TelaPoint's Internet supply chain solution is a key component of our ongoing strategy to optimize petroleum supply efficiencies for our retail operation," said Don E. Marsh, chairman and CEO of Marsh Supermarkets. "TelaFuel will help us save significant time and money by allowing us to optimize fuel purchasing costs, better manage fuel inventory levels and substantially reduce the labor needed to reconcile supplier invoices."

TelaFuel is an Internet supply chain software solution that helps companies realize fewer communication errors with transportation partners, lower fuel inventory and replenishment costs, make better fuel purchasing and pricing decisions and streamline fuel invoice reconciliation, the Louisville, Ky.-based tech company said.

All TelaPoint customers have secure access through browser-based software applications allowing for timely and accurate communication with their authorized trading partners, it added.

Marsh Supermarkets, a large regional grocery chain, operates 69 Marsh Supermarkets, 38 LoBill Food stores, 2 Arthur's Fresh Markets, 1 Savin $, 8 O'Malia Food Markets and 160 Village Pantry convenience stores in central Indiana and western Ohio. Marsh also operates Crystal Food Services, which provides catering, cafeteria management, office coffee vending and concessions; Primo Banquet Catering and Conference Centers; and McNamara and Enflora - Flowers for Business.
