Vontier Corp., Raleigh, North Carolina, is consolidating its convenience-store technology portfolio under a single Convenience Retail division. Andy Bennett, former head of Vontier’s electric-vehicle (EV) software business, Driivz, has been appointed group president.
The new division brings together Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s fueling and environmental systems, Invenco’s payments and connectivity, DRB’s car-wash automation and Driivz’s EV charging and energy management. It reflects a broader shift toward integrated, multi-service mobility experiences across the forecourt and beyond, the company said.
"Convenience stores are becoming multi-service mobility hubs, not just pit stops," said Bennett. "Our customers need technology that works seamlessly together and enables consumers to fuel or charge their vehicle, order food or get their car washed—all while enjoying a consistent elevated experience. That's exactly what our integrated solutions deliver."
By uniting its brands, Vontier said it aims to eliminate the fragmentation that has often forced convenience retailers to manage multiple vendors and disconnected systems across the site.
The new division will focus on four core pillars:
- Unified payments: One connected platform across fueling, EV charging, car wash and in-store pay points.
- Operational efficiency: Remote asset management and compliance tracking via a centralized “Hub” interface.
- Consumer engagement: Subscription, media and foodservice integrations at the pump to drive in-store visits and loyalty.
- Smart energy management: Driivz software to optimize EV charging uptime and reduce energy costs.
The consolidation is also a response to evolving consumer expectations. Vontier research shows 61% of U.S. drivers remain loyal to their preferred c-store, while 80% are willing to drive out of their way to get there. But delivering a consistently modern customer experience across fuel, foodservice and car wash remains a challenge for many operators.
Mark Morelli, Vontier’s CEO, said the streamlined approach will help retailers scale smarter and faster.
“Our strategy focuses on streamlining our go-to-market approach and helping our convenience retail customers evolve their operations and offerings so they can continue to grow,” Morelli said.
The move positions Vontier to compete more directly with integrated retail tech providers and to serve as a platform player across fueling, EV charging and in-store systems.
