POWELL, Tenn. — Nearly two decades ago, Weigel’s customers used their Weigel’s Milk punch card to redeem a free gallon of milk with the purchase of 16 gallons. Today, customers can still get that free gallon of milk, but the company has updated its loyalty program and app with the support of PDI Technologies and Rovertown.

The Powell, Tenn.-based convenience-store chain—with 72 stores, a dairy and bakery all within a 100-mile area of its headquarters—launched its revamped myWeigel’s Rewards loyalty program in December, including the launch of its new mobile app.

The new rewards program will keep its mainstay legacy clubs, offering free milk, pizza and doughnuts with purchase. Weigel's Wednesday—where the chain offers a free item every Wednesday to all registered myWeigel’s users—birthday gifts, surprise coupons, monthly giveaways and tobacco deals will remain.

  • Weigel’s Stores Inc. is No. 102 on CSP’s 2022 Top 202 list of c-store chains by store count.

The improved app offers enhanced points-based rewards, exclusive discounts and on-the-go convenience, the chain said. Platform improvements also include cents-per-gallon deals. myWeigel’s Rewards customers who register their card in the Weigel’s app will receive 500 points. Customers can also link their myWeigel’s Rewards to their checking account to save up to 10 cents on every gallon.

“With 72 stores throughout East Tennessee, Weigel’s is a beloved, family-owned brand with a dedicated community following,” said Jessica Starnes, Weigel’s category manager of tobacco and loyalty.  “We continuously seek ways to ensure Weigel’s customers know they are appreciated, so the primary goal of the newly improved loyalty program is to drive meaningful value and reward deeper engagement with existing customers. If we happen to attract new customers along the way—even better.”

To make these changes, Weigel’s migrated from Outside Networks legacy platform to Alpharetta, Ga.-based PDI’s new invest loyalty platform. PDI’s Koupon Media will be implemented to use age- and ID-verification technology, allowing Weigel’s to better engage tobacco funding and market other products to customers 21 and up, Starnes said. Weigel’s also partnered with St. Louis-based computer software company Rovertown for its app.

myWeigel’s Rewards cards are available at any store and can be registered at www.weigels.com. Users can download the free myWeigel’s Rewards app on any smart device using the card’s built-in QR code or through the Google Play or Apple App stores.
