
Yesway has hired Robert Hampton as its chief technology officer. Hampton will lead the Fort Worth, Texas-based convenience-store chain’s information technology strategy and oversee all aspects of enterprise technology, digital transformation, cybersecurity and innovation, Yesway announced Thursday.
Hampton (pictured below) has more than 20 years of technology leadership experience in the retail, convenience and supply chain sectors. Most recently, he spent a decade with Jacksons Cos. as their CIO and vice president of technology solutions and innovations. While there, he led the acquisition and integration of more than 120 stores, helped launch the ExtraMile Convenience Stores joint venture with Chevron and redesigned the IT organization.

Meridian, Idaho-based Jacksons has more than 300 convenience stores under the Jacksons Food Stores and ExtraMile by Jacksons brands.

In his role at Yesway, Hampton will establish and manage its technical vision and roadmap, overseeing the evaluation, development and deployment of all enterprise, store-level, web and mobile technology platforms, the company said. He’ll lead digital transformation initiatives across retail, fuel and back-office operations, among other duties.
Hampton also serves as the chairman of the Conexxus Board of Advisors, the convenience retail technology standards organization.

Established in 2015, Yesway operates 448 stores across Texas, New Mexico, South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Nebraska under the Yesway and Allsup’s brands. Yesway skyrocketed its growth in 2019 when it acquired Clovis, New Mexico-based Allsup’s and its 304 stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
