The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued warning letters to five online retailers for selling unauthorized disposable e-cigarette products, marketed under the brand names Geek Bar, Lost Mary and Bang.
The warning letters were sent Thursday to the following retailers: Smoke and Vape Co. LLC, dba Smoke and Vape Co.; Smoking Vibes LLC, dba Smoking Vibes; Cavalry Industries, dba Select Vape; HTXW LLC, dab FOMO Culture; and Global Supply Allies Inc., dba Vapor Grab.
The FDA continues to issue warning letters informed through the agency's ongoing monitoring of multiple surveillance systems to identify products that data indicate are popular among youth or have youth appeal, the agency said. The FDA said emerging data showed Geek Bar, a Chinese-owned and manufactured brand, has recently seen an uptick in sales and can appeal to youth.
The online retailers that received warning letters have 15 working days to respond with how they will correct the violation and prevent future ones. Failure to do so could result in additional FDA action such as injunctions, seizure or civil money penalties.
To date, the FDA has issued more than 680 warning letters to companies for manufacturing or distributing illegal e-cigarette products and devices and has authorized 34 e-cigarette products and devices.
