Flaherty to Lead Swedish Match North America

Replaces Freeman, who becomes president of international division
RICHMOND, Va. -- Rich Flaherty has been named president of Swedish Match North America, effective November 12. Flaherty replaces Lennart Freeman, who moves to the position of president of Swedish Match International.

Flaherty joined Swedish Match North America in 2000 as its chief financial officer and most recently served as its chief operating officer. He has more than 20 years of experience working in the consumer packaged goods industry, including positions at Unilever and Bumble Bee Seafoods, the company said.

Freeman has been executive vice president of Swedish [image-nocss] Match AB since 2005. He joined Swedish Match in 1975. He has served as president of the North American division since 1999 and a member of group management.

Stockholm, Sweden-based Swedish Match is a global group of companies with a broad assortment of market leading brands in smokeless tobacco, cigars and pipe tobacco, matches and lighters. Swedish Match products are produced, marketed and sold by the company's three divisions: North Europe, North America and International. Some of its brands in the United States include Red Man, Timber Wolf, Longhorn, White Owl and Garcia y Vega.

Swedish Match North America is headquartered in Richmond, Va., with manufacturing facilities in Owensboro, Kentucky, Dothan, Alabama and the Dominican Republic.
