Which Convenience-Store Chains Fell Off This Year's Top 202 List?

Several well-known brands dropped due to acquisitions

Because of acquisition activity in 2023, several well-known chains fell off CSP’s Top 202 list this year. Here are a few of them:

  • Cox Oil, Union City, Tennessee, sold 54 locations under the Little General and Maverick Quick Shop banners to Tri Star Energy, Nashville, Tennessee.
  • Kum & Go, Des Moines, Iowa, sold 393 stores to Maverik, Salt Lake City.
  • MAPCO Express Inc., Franklin, Tennessee, sold 192 stores to Majors Management, Lawrenceville, Georgia, and 112 to Alimentation Couche-Tard, Laval, Quebec.
  • Summerwood Partners, Bryant, Arkansas, sold 44 Big Red Stores to Couche-Tard.
  • Transit Energy Group, West Memphis, Arkansas, sold 135 stores operating under brands including Corner Mart, Dixie Mart, Flash Market, Market Express and Rose Mart to Arko Corp., the parent company of Richmond, Virginia-based GPM Investments.
