Hy-Vee Inc., one of the largest privately owned supermarket chains in the United States, also operates Hy-Vee convenience stores with fuel in the parking lots of its grocery stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The adjacent c-stores and gas stations have been added as a strategy to meet more customer needs at a single location and capture more market share.

Hy-Vee has converted all of its Hy-Vee Gas locations to Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh Express units.

Stores feature Market Grille Express, Nori Sushi and Mealtime To Go ready-to-eat meals and a wide variety of hot food offerings, as well as bakery and produce sections. The beverage selection includes Caribou coffee, 24 flavors of fountain pop and a large cold beverage bar with iced coffee, ICEE frozen beverages, slush, HL Craft flavored water and six varieties of freshly brewed tea.
