Greenville, South Carolina-based Spinx, which began in 1972 with a home heating oil delivery service and one convenience store in Greenville, operates 86 locations, including c-stores and tunnel car washes. The newest c-stores have full-service kitchens. The company employs more than 1,400 associates through its stores, food operations and related businesses.

Last fall, Spinx ranked No. 7 on the Great Place to Work list of top employers in the United States for women. To obtain the ranking, Spinx had to be certified through Fortune, have a certain percentage of women respond to a survey and obtain a certain number of positive responses from the survey.

In August 2022, the c-store chain was named the No. 1 Best Place to Work in South Carolina by SCBIZ magazine and the Best Companies Group. In March 2022, Spinx, in a move to offer relief to customers, offered a 25-cents-per-gallon discount when using its Xtras Pay to buy fuel for about seven weeks.
