Clipper Petroleum opened in 1933 as the W.F. Homeyer Oil Co. But after founder W.F. Homeyer flew around the world on the Pan-Am Clipper airplane in 1957, he changed his company's name to Clipper Petroleum in honor of the beloved plane.
Clipper operates 24 convenience stores, four Subways and two Bojangles restaurants.
The company also distributes fuel to over 300 partner locations across the Southeast under a variety of major fuel brands. For benchmarking purposes, store counts are as of Jan. 1, 2025.
