Earlier this year, Jernigan Oil sold most of its convenience retail division to Sunoco Retail LLC, an affiliate of Sunoco LP, Dallas, Texas. The sale included 54 out of 56 Duck Thru Food Stores, a brand that debuted in 1983, in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
The chain was one of the largest family-owned convenience networks in Eastern North Carolina and southern Virginia. The full-service company based in Ahoskie, North Carolina, offered quality Shell and Duck Thru fuels and LP gas to homes, farms and businesses.
