The Spinx Co. favors growth through new-builds, having opened five stores and a car wash in 2025, according to Steve Spinks, chairman and CEO of the Greenville, South Carolina-based company. The chain has six planned for 2026 and seven the year later.
"We're fortunate, we have a strong operating business and a strong team," he said. "They're ready for new challenges. As we develop leaders in company, we're opening new stores and offering new opportunities."
He sees the North and South Carolina markets in which they operate as growing areas, including cities like Charleston, Columbia, Greenville and Ashville.
Spinx, which began in 1972 with a home heating oil delivery service and one convenience store in Greenville, operates c-stores and tunnel car washes. The newest c-stores have full-service kitchens. The company employs more than 1,400 associates through its stores, food operations and related businesses.
