The chain operates convenience stores, car washes and a retail petroleum distribution company with Shell, Exxon, CITGO and Dash In fuels. The chain has been family-owned since 1926, with Dash In founded in 1979. The company also owns Potomac Energy Holdings, which operates Shell-branded retail locations in central and western Maryland and distributes Shell-branded fuel to other retailers in the region.

The Dash In stores include franchised and company-operated sites. Foodservice has been a primary focus, with a trademarked item called a Stackadilla offered in five different varieties, including one breakfast item called the Big Country Breakfast Stackadilla. The chain also piloted and now offers Refresco beverages and Fresh Blends frozen drinks. Dash In strives to add differentiated menu items while incorporating local flavors.

For benchmarking purposes, store counts are as of Jan. 1, 2026.
