The Wills Group, a convenience retailer based in La Plata, Maryland, donated $875,108 in total grants and investments made to nonprofit partners and local organizations this year. This brings the company's donations to more than $5 million since 2006.

  • The Wills Group is No. 117 on CSP’s 2022 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.

These philanthropic dollars and hundreds of employee and community volunteer hours invested by the Wills Group and its family of companies, including Dash In, Splash In ECO Car Wash and SMO Motor Fuels, have furthered their signature programs: Nourishing Children and Families, and Reimagining Outdoor Spaces. The initiatives have helped ensure childhood food security and provide outdoor spaces for neighbors to play, rest, connect, create and restore.

In its annual Community Engagement Report, Lives in Motion, the company highlighted its commitment to local communities across the Mid-Atlantic region.

“The premise behind our community engagement program, Lives in Motion, and why it's the name of this year’s report, is that we’re working to move communities one step closer to fulfilling their dreams,” said Blackie Wills, president and COO of the Wills Group. “For our nonprofit partners it’s a matter of, how can we provide the resources to help them deliver on their purpose? Because, in turn, by doing that, that’s keeping Lives in Motion. Whether it’s being able to put meals on the table for the food insecure, or providing that welcoming outdoor space for the community, it’s a little bit of inspiration that you’re taking one step closer to helping you reach your goals.”

The Wills Group community engagement achievements include:

  • More than $875,000 in total grants and investments
  • 50 grants distributed
  • 29 nonprofits supported
  • $103,473 raised through the Employee Match Campaign
  • More than $342,000 raised at the Blackie Wills Golf Classic
  • More than 480 total employee and community volunteer hours

A family-owned company since 1926, the Wills Group has expertise in convenience retailing, fuels marketing and commercial real estate.
