Colonial Oil Industries has acquired Strickland Oil, Pooler, Georgia, to expand its commercial fuel and lubricants division.

The Jan. 16 acquisition is expected to net about 400 customers and 650 ship-to locations for Colonial Oil, the company said. It will bring eight Strickland employees to Colonial.

The companies did not disclose the terms of the deal. Colonial Oil is in an expansion mode, said Tara Nobles, marketing manager. “With smaller distributors deciding to exit the market, it’s a natural fit for our desire to continue to grow our business,” she said.

Strickland Oil has served Savannah, Georgia, and the surrounding region for 47 years, delivering commercial fuel and lubricants, as well as operating a cardlock location in Pooler.

“For nearly 70 years, Strickland Oil Co. has focused on customer service and quality work," said Co-Owner Kent Strickland. "We feel that Colonial Oil is the perfect fit for our customers as it is also a family run business with the personal service that customers deserve. We would also like to thank our loyal customers and employees for their many years of service and wish everyone a blessed and prosperous future.”

Colonial Oil Industries, with operations in the Southeast, Midwest and the East Coast, provides petroleum, marine and lubricants services throughout the United States. Strickland Oil will operate as a part of Colonial’s commercial fuel and lubricants division.
