LONDON, Ky. -- Lykins Energy Solutions, formerly Lykins Oil, has purchased fuel oil supplier R.C. Miller Oil Co., based in Corbin, Ky. With the acquisition, R.C. Miller Oil will become Lykins Energy Solutions.
The company does not own, operate or supply convenience stores, a Lykins spokesperson told CSP Daily News.
"Lykins Energy is proud to have the opportunity to purchase R.C. Miller, and we look forward to taking care of R.C. Miller's customers the same way they have been taken care of for many years," said Lykins Energy Solutions president Jeff Lykins. "Lykins Energy Solutions has hired all of R.C. Miller's employees, and Mark Richardson will continue to work for the company making deliveries. R.C. Miller's customers should see little change in the company's operations."
Lykins Energy Solutions will be working out of its current bulk plant in London, Ky., and the R.C. Miller phone number will be moved to that location.
R. C. Miller Oil was founded in 1957 by R.C. Miller, an active member of the Corbin community. He served as mayor of Corbin for a number of years. He was also a school teacher and businessman. He passed away in 1977 with no heirs except a niece and nephew who had worked for him. They took over operation of the business from 1977 to 2004. Mark Richardson began his first job working at R.C. Miller Oil Co. in 1984. He took over operation of the business in 2004 when R.C. Miller's niece and nephew retired.
Lykins Energy Solutions has been in business since 1948. Oil and gas have always been the company's focus; however, Lykins supplies the region with a wide array of energy products and services. The company serves customers in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, as well as throughout the Midwest and the Southeast and provides key services including branded fuels, wholesale fuels, commercial, transportation and home heating oil, propane, lubricants, electricity and natural gas. The company represents six major brands that it sells to independent gasoline dealers: BP, Marathon, ExxonMobil, Shell, Gulf and Clark.
Milford, Ohio-based Lykins Energy Solutions is one of the 100 largest privately held companies in Ohio, and one of the top 10 largest petroleum marketing companies in Ohio. Lykins is one of the oldest and largest petroleum marketing companies in the region and the nation. Currently, Lykins Energy Solutions employs 250 people.
