Sheetz is lowering the price of Unleaded 88 fuel, also called E15, to launch a sweepstakes contest. A total of $880,000 will be awarded to four customers who fill up their tanks at the convenience-store chain this summer.
Through Aug. 14, customers will receive entries into the contest for doing the following:
- Purchasing Unleaded 88 or E85 (flex fuel) will result in five entries per gallon.
- Every gallon of other fuel grades purchased (regular, mid-grade, premium, ethanol free, diesel exhaust fluid and diesel) will earn one entry.
- Redeeming 88 My Sheetz Rewardz loyalty points will earn one entry.
Drawings will occur on May 29, June 26, July 24 and Aug. 21. Winners of each drawing will receive $220,000 in prizes. Customers must be a My Sheetz Rewardz member and opt-in to the sweepstakes through the My Sheetz App, email, in-store or via the prompt on the fuel pump to participate.

Unleaded 88 will be 20 cents lower than the price of Unleaded 87 until the sweepstakes end on Aug. 14.
Unleaded 88 (E15) has been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use in all 2001 and newer cars, trucks and SUVs, Sheetz said. Unleaded 88 burns cleaner and reduces toxins, making it more environmentally friendly, according to the convenience-store chain. E15 is a blend of 15% ethanol and 85% gasoline.
The government restricts sales of E15 in summer months due to environmental concerns over smog, though the biofuel industry says those concerns are unfounded. The EPA in February approved a request from the governors of several Midwestern states to allow year-round access to higher-ethanol gasoline blends, including E15, starting in 2025.
E85 is approved for use in “flexible-fuel vehicles” designed to run on gasoline or gasoline-ethanol blends of up to 85% ethanal.
Sheetz, Altoona, Pennsylvania, has 710 convenience stores in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. It’s also planning to open several stores around Detroit in Michigan.
