Firing Up Growth

J&J Snack Foods opens new culinary center

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. -- J&J Snack Foods Corp. opened its new culinary center with a ribbon cutting ceremony in late November. Construction of the kitchen started in late August and included the addition of new equipment and furnishings. The opening of the center will help to facilitate J&J Snack Foods' growth in the foodservice and retail segments, it said.

Ribbon cutters at the ceremony (pictured) included Don McComas, newly appointed national director of product development; Steve Taylor, vice president of sales; Anthony P. Harrison II, vice president [image-nocss] of quality control and research & development; and Scott Noar, research manager.

As certified master baker, McComas fired up the event by preparing some of J&J Snack Foods' signature products. With the new center, McComas will have the means to expand and diversify J&J Snack Foods' various product lines, including soft pretzels, cookies, churros, funnel cakes and biscuits, said the company.

Attendees at the ceremony enjoyed Banana Fosters a la Funnel Cake, Churros Bread Pudding and a Gourmet Pretzel Roll Monte Cristo Sandwich.

J&J Snack Foods manufactures a variety of snack foods for the foodservice and retail supermarket and convenience store industries. Its principal products include frozen soft pretzels under Superpretzel, Pretzel Fillers and other brand names; ICEE frozen beverages; Luigi's Real Italian Ice and Mama Tish's Premium Italian Ices; frozen juice bars under the Minute Maid, Chill, Barq's and Shape Ups brand names; Tio Pepe's churros; The Funnel Cake Factory funnel cakes; and cookies under the Readi-Bake, Mrs. GoodCookie and Camden Creek brands.
