United Cooperative Supporting 'Operation Homecoming'

Program to help returning vets runs through July 9

BEAVER DAM, Wis. -- United Cooperative's 11 convenience stores in Wisconsin are participating in Operation Homecoming, a donation-canister program designed to help returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans reconnect with their families and readjust to life back home.

Operation Homecoming was created by the American Legion in partnership with the Wisconsin Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Store Association (WPMCA).

"The donations from our customers will help fund Camp American Legion by Lake Tomahawk," said Greg Adkins, Beaver Dam, Wis.-based United Cooperative's [image-nocss] convenience store supervisor. "Camp American Legion helps veterans reunite with their loved ones and refocus their priorities."

He added, "United Cooperative decided to get involved in Operation Homecoming as a way to show our appreciation to the thousands of Wisconsin soldiers who continue to protect and serve in the military. Returning home from war is not easy, and it's important we do our best to try and help these men and women through the healing process."

The program will run through July 9, 2011.
