SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Two-thousand sixteen was Stewart’s Shops’ “busiest year for construction yet,” company spokesperson Maria D’Amelia said in a video year in review posted to the convenience-store retailer’s website.
1. In 2016, Stewart’s Shops invested $50 million in construction and remodeling.
2. The company built a total of 16 shops: six newly built stores and 10 replacement stores.
3. It performed “dozens” of remodels, including adding more seating and bathrooms.
4. It rebuilt the shop at the site of the company’s first c-store (built in 1945) in Ballston Spa, N.Y.
5. Stewart’s Shops increased its presence in central New York, in the Syracuse and Oneida County markets.
6. It added more “Easy Food” options, including 200 shops with fresh pizza.
7. The company added premium non-ethanol gasoline at more locations, now totaling 250.
“And 2017 promises to be an even bigger year for Stewart’s Shops construction," D’Amelia said.
Saratoga Springs, N.Y.-based Stewart's Shops operates more than 330 convenience stores in New York and Vermont and has annual sales of approximately $1.6 billion.
