Chester's Names 2007 Franchisee of Year

Honors Greg Parker of Parker Oil with award during SOI event

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Convenience store fried chicken program provider Chester's International has named Parker Oil its 2007 Franchisee of the Year. The award was presented on Wednesday to Greg Parker, owner of Parker Oil, at this year's NACS State of the Industry Summit in partnership with CSP in Chicago.

Parker's is being recognized as a leading franchisee within the Chester's system for achievements in sales performance, exceeding branding and merchandising standards and employing consistent, quality operations at all locations.

In 2007, Chester's signed a multi-unit franchise agreement [image-nocss] with Parker Oil that called for multiple Chester's locations to be open within Parker's c-stores in the Greater Savannah, Ga., area. Parker's continues to expand, with close to 30 locations throughout southeast Georgia, seven of which include Chester's restaurants.

After operating a proprietary fried chicken program for the past 25 years, Parker's decided to transition its foodservice to Chester's branded fried chicken concept. The flexible design of the Chester's program allowed the Parker's locations to be retrofitted with minimal buildout of the existing footprints.

The multi-unit agreement with Parker's represents progress in Chester's growth strategy to further expand its franchise program in travel plazas and c-stores across the U.S. and Caribbean regions. Chester's currently operates more than 1,500 locations.

Birmingham, Ala.-based Chester's uses fresh chicken that is marinated and double-breaded using a proprietary family recipe and offers bone-in, tenders and potato wedges as well as sandwiches, wraps, salads, breakfast and sides.
