Chicken QSR opens in Love's new Iowa travel plaza

NEWTON, Iowa -- As reported earlier this week in CSP Daily News, Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores has opened its first truckstop in Iowa, along Interstate 80 in Newton. The facility opened for business yesterday.

The new travel plaza features a McDonald's and a Chester's Chicken location. The location's opening event included a special guest appearance by Chester the Chicken.

Love's was Chester's first franchisee, and it is now the largest franchise operator in the system, with nearly 40 Chester's and Chester Fried locations in travel plazas across the United States. Love's [image-nocss] is slated to add more Chester's locations in 2008.

"Working with a national brand like Chester's has proven to be successful for us," said Joe Cotton, director of restaurant services for Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores, Oklahoma City. "The marketing support we get from Chester's is a much needed boost that we could only get from a strong foodservice partner."

This new location will offer free internet access, dine-in seatingand a game room. Love's Newton will offer a couple ofdining optionsthat includeboth Chester's and McDonald's. The new Chester's willoffer its customers take-out, dine-in and catering options.

Birmingham, Ala.-based Chester's International LLC offers quick-serve restaurant (QSR) concepts with more than 1,500 Chester Fried licensed and Chester's franchised locations.

Love's has more than 200 Travel Stops & Country Stores throughout the United States.
