Chester's expanding in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chester's International LLC is launching a program to expand the number of franchised Chester's restaurants in Birmingham, Ala., its corporate home town.

A recent independent market analysis conducted for Chester's International identified 24 potential trade areas in and around the Birmingham area. Each trade area creates a minimum opportunity for one restaurant opening. The company is looking for three to four qualified individuals or businesses to develop Chester's franchises in these areas by opening multiple restaurants over the [image-nocss] next 12 to 24 months.

Birmingham, our hometown, is one of the most important markets in the country for us, said Russ Cooper, president of Chester's International. Chester's franchise program is an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs that have an interest in the restaurant business. In addition, 24 new franchised restaurants would create 170 or so new jobs for full-time and part-time employment in the Birmingham area.

Chester's International, previously a licensed quick-serve restaurant concept operating under the Chester Fried brand name, changed its name to Chester's International when it shifted its business model to a franchise program in June 2004. Chester's currently operates a total of 1,785 locations. Under the new business model, Chester's seeks to add a total of 500 franchises within five years.

The company offers product, flexible size and store layout options, training and support. Chester's uses fresh chicken marinated and double-breaded using a proprietary family recipe and offers bone-in, tenders and potato wedges as well as sandwiches, wraps, salads, breakfast and sides.
