Fee Fie Foe Food & Fuel

First Giant To Go convenience store opening in Lancaster, Pa.
LANCASTER, Pa. -- Giant Food Stores LLC said yesterday that it will open the doors of the company's first convenience store, Giant To Go, on Wednesday, April 15 at 6:00 a.m. in Lancaster, Pa. The 4,422-square-foot store "will offer a new kind of c-store experience, bringing customers the quality and freshness they expect from Giant plus the added value of Giant's BonusCard savings," the company said.

"Giant To Go will be more than your typical convenience store with everything customers would expect to find in a convenience store, but with an emphasis on fresh, on-the-go [image-nocss] products and savings for which Giant is well-known," said Sander van der Laan, president and CEO of Carlisle, Pa.-based Giant Food Stores. "Lancaster customers now will be able to participate in our Gas Extra Rewards program as well as use their Giant BonusCard when purchasing products at the new store."

Giant To Go, open seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., will employ 12 people. Sean Michael has been named the store manager.

Outside, the Giant To Go location will offer the second Giant fuel station in Lancaster County, consisting of eight pumps, each with a Pay-at-the-Pump feature. Customers will also be able to receive savings at the pump through Giant's Gas Extra Rewards program. For every $100 a customer spends at Giant To Go or any Giant supermarket location on qualifying in-store purchases, they are eligible to receive ten cents off per gallon of gasoline.

Inside, the new Giant To Go will offer customers a selection of fresh produce, meats, deli and bakery products that allow customers to fill up on everyday staples at the same time they are filling up on gasoline. In addition, there will be a variety of healthier items available for "take-home" options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Giant Food Stores currently operates supermarkets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia under the names of Giant Food Stores, Martin's Food Markets and Giant To Go.
