Kraft Goes for Bold

Company to introduce 20 new product lines
NORTHFIELD, Ill. -- Kraft Foods is betting that consumers' tastes will change in the new year. The Northfield, Ill., company, the second-largest food company in the world, is set to release 20 new product lines for 2010 that are inspired by trendy, restaurant-inspired flavors, according to an NBCChicago report.

"Many of our new items reflect consumers' interests in bold flavors, especially those that are Italian-inspired or have a Mexican flair," John Li, Kraft's culinary director, told the news outlet.

"Hot and spicy is big so chipotle and garlic are key flavor notes, [image-nocss] while berry-infused items remain on-trend," he added. "The increasing desire for bolder flavors is not limited to a single age group. Everyone is asking for more adventurous taste experiences."

Some of the new flavors include skinless garlic-and-onion-flavored almonds from Planters, Kool-Aid fun fizz and dark chocolate granola from Back to Nature snacks.
